Nestled on 6.5 acres along MacArthur Boulevard, this family-owned gem was built by Richard E. Duffy on what was originally the Irvine Company’s land—just before Irvine officially became a city in 1971.
In the 1970s, the hotel quickly became a hotspot for high-profile television press conferences and events, attracting local and national leaders, including Senator John Tunney, Governor Jerry Brown, President Ronald Reagan, and White House aides to President Nixon. At the same time, the adjacent Orange County Airport (now John Wayne Airport) was making headlines itself, drawing stunt pilots, film crews, and aviation pioneers such as the legendary Howard Hughes and Eddie Martin, whose early landing strip laid the foundation for Orange County’s thriving commercial aviation industry.
In 1992, Golden Hotels Limited Partnership acquired the property and invested $4.5 million in a major renovation, introducing signature touches like a dramatic waterfall, fountains, a soaring two-story atrium lobby, and a pyramidal skylight. We have a 24-Hour Cancellation Policy. If you wish to cancel or modify a reservation, you must do so by 1 day prior to your arrival date. Once checked in, no cancellations. All linens are inventoried: missing or damaged linens will be charged. Any damages to the hotel property will be charged an additional fee upon assessment. We are pet-friendly. Any damages to the hotel property will be charged an additional fee upon assessment. This is a non-smoking property. We do have smoking room types. Guest acknowledges that smoking and vaping is not allowed in the non-smoking guest room or common areas. If anyone in the guest's party smokes or vapes, the guest hereby expressly authorizes hotel management to charge the credit card the amount to reimburse the property for the additional cost of cleaning a guest room. If your reservation has been paid in advance or you elect to pay by cash, a security deposit via credit card will be required upon check-in and will be charged in the event that damages outlined herein occur. The hotel takes a credit preauthorization but does not accept cash deposits.
